Hiring - Business Development Consultant

About Grow Sport

Grow Sport is Ireland’s leading consultancy dedicated to supporting sports clubs and organisations to operate like high-performing businesses. Through our fractional management model, we deliver expertise across strategy, governance, operations, revenue generation and digital transformation to clubs across golf, GAA, soccer, tennis, hockey and emerging sports.

We are now expanding and seeking a Business Development Consultant to help drive the next phase of growth.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional sales role.

This is a partnership opportunity for someone who understands the sports industry, sees commercial opportunity and wants to play a key role in scaling a growing business.

You will work directly with the leadership team to identify opportunities, build relationships and convert demand into long-term client partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

1. Growth & Pipeline Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Irish sports clubs and organisations

  • Build and manage a high-quality pipeline of prospective clients

  • Target key sectors: golf clubs, rugby clubs, GAA clubs, multi-sport facilities and governing bodies

2. Relationship Management

  • Build trusted relationships with club decision-makers (Chairs, Treasurers, General Managers, Committees)

  • Position Grow Sport as a strategic partner rather than a service provider

  • Maintain and grow long-term client relationships

3. Commercial Conversion

  • Lead or support client conversations from initial engagement through to proposal and close

  • Work with internal teams to shape tailored solutions for each club

  • Drive revenue growth aligned with company targets

4. Market Intelligence

  • Provide insights on industry trends, challenges, and opportunities

  • Identify gaps in the market where Grow Sport can add value

  • Support development of new services and offerings

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong network within Irish sport (golf, GAA, or broader club landscape)

  • Commercially minded with a clear understanding of revenue generation

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence decision-makers

  • Self-starter with the ability to operate independently

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Experience in business development, club management or sports administration is a distinct advantage

What Makes This Different

  • Partnership mindset – this is about building something, not just selling

  • Flexible structure – designed to suit experienced professionals

  • High-impact role – direct influence on company growth

  • Access to a strong brand and proven model

  • Opportunity to shape the future of club sport in Ireland

Commercial Structure

  • Flexible and performance-based

  • Designed to reward high-quality client acquisition and long-term value creation

  • Details discussed directly with shortlisted candidates
